Meet Your Instructor

Meet David Rogan

I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved with my family to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 9. I remained in Arizona until graduating from Arizona State University in 2001. In the summer of 2006, my friends lost their 4-year-old son in a preventable drowning accident. He drowned in plain sight, in a pool surrounded by others, including lifeguards and numerous adults. Words cannot express the profound loss and pain felt by anyone who had the privilege of knowing Christian in his short time with us. Since that tragic day, I have had a strong desire to help prevent any future children drowning. I first discovered the Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) program in 2012, when I met Michael Petrella, an ISR Master Instructor. He was in El Paso training the first ever Student Instructor in the area. I must have asked Michael a thousand questions that night, and by the end of the evening I was so impressed with the program, and thrilled with the possibility of having a real impact on drowning prevention and saving children's lives, that I knew without a doubt I would become an ISR Instructor. A year later Michael was back in El Paso to train me. I became officially certified to instruct in February of 2014, and I am now excited to offer classes of my own. My goal is to instruct as many children as I possibly can, and then train to become a Master Instructor as soon as I have the requisite experience, so that I can help spread this amazing program to as many families as possible.

Our sons have learned necessary survival skills that will enable them to be safer and more competent in the water. In addition, they love to swim!
Ten minutes a day changed Jonathan's life. I wouldn't give back this experience for the world.
It has been a true joy to watch him learn these awesome swimming skills and to see his face light up full of confidence because of them.
